Acrylic and mixed media on canvas
I named this series The Color of Her Voice. It was inspired by Marilyn Monroe — not only as an unforgettable beauty icon, but as a woman who wanted to be seen, heard, and respected beyond the image that the world created for her.
Marilyn Monroe was often reduced to her sensuality and the “blonde bombshell” persona, yet behind that image was a woman with ambition, sensitivity, intelligence, and a strong desire to grow as an artist. She took bold steps to change the way Hollywood saw her by studying acting seriously and seeking greater creative control over her career.
In this series, I take Marilyn’s iconic image and reinterpret it through my own colorful visual language. Each painting presents her in a different variation — bold, emotional, feminine, powerful, and full of life. The bright colors, flowers, symbols, and layered textures represent a woman who believes in herself, refuses to be minimized, and dares to dream beyond the limits placed on her.
For me, Marilyn remains an unforgettable icon: a symbol of beauty, vulnerability, strength, ambition, and the deep desire to be recognized for more than what people choose to see on the surface. Through this series, I wanted to give her another kind of presence — not only the image of a star, but the color of a woman’s voice.
